Woonbeurs

Woonbeurs

Today we went to the so-called ‘woonbeurs’ (loosely translated as housing fair) held in Amsterdam. This is an absolutely amazing and inspiring event that many of you will know. We were very pleased by all the beautiful stands. Our main goals were the stands from; VT-Wonen, 101 woonideeën, Flexa and IKEA.

Unfortunately the last one, IKEA, was a little disappointing. Their stands were only focussed on kitchens (which is logical considering their current campaign and collaboration with the television-show: Fix This Kitchen, but still...) The kitchens were indeed nice but we hoped for small housing stands we are used to from the stores.

VT-Wonen was, as expected, the most inspiring. It gave the urge to throw in a lot of blue in our homes. An on-going trend we saw was industrial in contrast with cosiness, and off course BLUE. Also spotted was the Turkish carpet that made its appearance in many more stands.

The stand from 101 woonideeën was all about colour blocking. Purple vs. lime, blue vs. pink and so on. The fact that there was no unity made it all one.

Flexa, off course, was all about colour. Loads of hand-painted canvases were spread through a long hallway in groups of shades. Some inspiring pictures here and there but nothing more. A lovely simplicity we really appreciated.

Some trends we spotted were; the (mainly blue) Turkish carpet, braided poufs, industrial elements (like metal army boxes and old factory chairs) and the combination of ‘unfinished’ & ‘perfection’ (perfectly painted table tops with rough branches as table legs).
